Senior Fellow: Crystal Davis 
Crystal Davis
 I grew up in Southern California riding horses and enjoying nature. I spend my free time backpacking and hanging out with my chihuahuas Dasher, Comet and Cupid. I am a teacher at Hawthorne Math and Science Academy in Hawthorne, Ca where I teach Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Environmental Science, Biology and Anatomy/Physiology to high school students. I was a teacher at Hawthorne Math and Science Academy (HMSA) in Hawthorne, Ca where I taught Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Environmental Science, Biology and Anatomy/Physiology to high school students. I am now a teacher at the California Academy of Mathematics and Science (CAMS) where I teach Biotechnology, Medical Biology and Healthcare Analysis. I am looking forward to working with teachers new to field research, bringing back data on climate change and research techniques to share with my students.

Paula Borstel

Paula grew up in Florida riding bikes, showing dogs and gardening. She teaches Chemistry, Anatomy and Marine Biology in Rolling Hills Estates, Ca. She is looking forward to an amazing adventure in Montana and is hoping to use the tools she learns to inspire her students to discover the effects of climate change in keystone species in their own community.

Stephanie Coffey

Stephanie grew up in Dayton, Oh and enjoys dancing, karaoke, throwing pottery and spending time with her dog Maggie. Stephanie is an instructor at Downtown Magnets High School where she teaches Chemistry, Advanced Placement Biology and is the coach for academic decathlon. Stephanie applied to Earthwatch to get hands on experience working in the field collecting data.  Prior to this she only done bench work in a lab. Stephanie wants to bring back real data to her classroom and make new teacher friends.

Stacie Dahl

Stacie grew up in Oregon, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She enjoys canoe racing and field research. Stacie teaches all things Chemistry - Advanced Placement Chemistry, Honors Chemistry Chemistry and Academic Decathlon. Stacie wants to model what she would like her students to do and to be a better resource for them when she returns from her expedition.

Genevieve Hillmer
Genevieve grew up in Whittier, Ca and enjoys coloring. She teaches special education at Orchard Academies 2B and San Antonio High School. She wants to encourage her student to be better citizens that are mindful of their environment and how their lifestyle impacts the world around them.


Kazumi Igus

Kazumi grew up in Venice, Ca and enjoys making jewelry, meditating and loves all things science. She is the science department chair and magnet lead teacher for the Environmental and Natural Sciences Magnet at Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets where she teaches Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Biology and coaches Junior Varsity Softball. Kazumi wants to increase her experience with fieldwork and bring more fieldwork to her classroom. This is something that is extremely important to her as she conducts most of her classes outside.

Abraham Orozco

Abraham grew up in Los Angeles, Ca where he spent his time reading, tinkering with tools, breaking things apart and fixing them. He started working at the age of fifteen in a summer internship for the Town of Apple Valley analyzing traffic data. He is currently the Scientific Arts Director at the Heart of Los Angeles where he runs the STEAM program and directs the IT department. He is looking to incorporate nature based learning into activities and curriculum when he gets back.

Juliet Puno
Juliet Puno
 Juliet grew up in the Philippians in Manila and enjoys singing, playing the guitar, curling up with a good book or movie and enjoying a good view in nature. She teaches Chemistry and Physics at Maywood Academy High School. Juliet wants to incorporate the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and focus on the impact of humans. She specifically wants to impress upon her students that local effects have a global effect and that what they do matters, no matter how small the action is.

Laura Wheeler

Laura grew up in Denver, Co and enjoys playing ultimate Frisbee and playing music on her guitar. She is an instructor at La Canada High School where she teaches Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Geology and Health. Upon returning Laura wants to show her students what our data looks like and have them work with it. She also wants her students to know that a keystone species doesn’t have to be glamorous to be important.
